So I recently went on a photoshoot with two of my friends just in a random area of Newcastle and while I was editing the photos I thought of a quick blog series that would be fun to do. Every month I’m going to go through my favorite photos and run you through how I edited them. If you want to have a look at all the photos check out my Instagram (its_wannie)
Initial photo. We were really lucky with the sun, I think it helped massively with how sharp the images end up.
Raw Unedited Images: 100ISO, 3.5F-stop, 1/1600
The only problem I had with shooting in the sun is that whenever the lighting changed even slightly, I had to change mt camera settings. Because I shoot in manual, I occasionally forgot and some images were underdeveloped.
I usually use lightroom CC for ‘primary edits of photos’. By that I mean the exposure (brightness) of the photo, how I want certain colours to look, and the crop. I am planning on making a YouTube video sometime in the near future about more of this in detail.
Post Lightroom Edit
I wanted the photos to look like they were taken in a hot place even though it was 8 degrees outside! I crushed the blacks and increased the shadows and contrast. I also increased the saturation of the yellows to make them stand out and increased the temperature.
I sometimes use photoshop for something bigger like removing an object in the background I don’t like. A lot of people ask me how I lay out the photos on my Instagram. I open 3 tabs on photoshop and line them up so I know what they will look like on Instagram.
For the final effect on my photos I love to use the app VSCO just because of the range of filters it has. I also like using the Instagram filters themselves. To get that really cool ‘Instagram Aesthetic’ everyone wants you just need to use roughly the same filter each time and a consistent set of colours in your photos. In case you haven’t guessed already mine is yellow.

The Instagram style for the month of January is called Yellow Wonder
This has been a really quick blog but I hoped you enjoyed it 😊 Let me know in the comments
